Bio

Josh Robinson is a versatile singer, composer, and multi-instrumentalist. Coming from a musical family, and taking a keen interest in music early on, Josh was performing every week in the baptist church by age five. He is very active in Halifax’s live music scene as the keyboardist of G Street band, a freelance musician, and a bandleader. Josh has shared the stage with many of Canada’s finest musicians, and has ventured as far as Hollywood to perform as one of ten artists selected worldwide for a talent showcase. As a classically and jazz trained vocalist, Josh has had the opportunity to sing with the Back Alley Big Band and the Dalhousie Symphony Orchestra. He has been a part of numerous other pop, jazz, r&b, classical, latin, rock, fusion, and songwriter ensembles as a singer and an instrumentalist. Over the past several years, Josh has also worked as a live sound technician, producer and arranger.

What are your musical influences? I am inspired by a wide variety of music from the works of composers from the romantic period such as Franz Liszt, Gustav Mahler, Fredric Chopin, and Sergei Rachmaninov, to some of the pioneers of jazz such as Charlie Parker, Herbie Hancock, George Gershwin, and Oscar Peterson. My popular music influences span a wide range of genres and include Stevie Wonder, Freddie Mercury, Frank Sinatra, The Beatles, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, John Mayer, Daniel Ceaser, Bruno Mars, Jacob Collier, and Andrea Bocelli.

Do you have any skills or talents that most people don’t know about? I ran a general contracting business and worked as a carpenter for years and have done everything from building houses, demolition, and landscaping to welding and car rebuilds/repairs

What are you happiest doing, when you’re not working? I love to spend time with my family when I'm not working. I am very close with my parents and my siblings.
